Historical Highlights
Late 1800's - The donation of land by Mr. Oliver Washburn is the site of St. Patrick's Church.
September 18, 1873 - The cornerstone is laid.
November 2, 1883 - Dedication of the church. The first pastor to celebrate mass is Fr. James Masterson.
1883 - Founding of St. Patrick's parish.
1884 - Electricity brings new light to the parish.
1910 - The Parish purchases for the new church a bell, formally used by the Fire Station on Main Street.
1965 - St. Patrick's own parishoner, Rev. George Coleman, is ordained to the priesthood and celebrates his first mass in the church. Most Rev. George Coleman is our current Bishop of Fall River.
1981 - Construction of the Parish Center is completed and blessed by Bishop Daniel Cronin.
Early 1980's - Faith Formation classes for the children are moved from the Fisher House on South Street to the new Parish Center.
Mid 1980's - St. Patrick's Parish Council along with the Women's Guild, Men's Club and St. Vincent de Paul Society become established groups at the Parish.
Early 1990's - Baptism Preparation, RCIA and Bereavement Committee begin their ministries at St. Patrick's. Mid 1990's - A new Youth Ministry and Liturgy of The Word enhance the children's education.
1997 - Bishop Sean O'Malley ordains our first permanent Deacon, Edward Hussey.
2008 - The parish launches a series of events to commemorate its 125th Anniversary. As part of the celebration, the church's façade is restored including a new steeple and granite steps.
2008 - St. Patrick's Parish marks its 125th Anniversary with a Mass celebrated by Bishop George Coleman and Father Tuptynski.
